Living on the beautiful Isle of Arran, my work is influenced to a large extent by the landscapes and seascapes around me. A shaft of sunlight breaking through a heavy sky, the west coast mist half hiding a headland or mountain ridge, these are the images that spark my imagination and make me reach for the brushes and canvas. I like to carry a sketch pad with me to capture the essence of an image but since my wife is a keen photographer I often make use of photographs as the basis for my work.
My paintings have been sold in local galleries and at art exhibitions on the island and have sold well over several years. In addition to selling in this way, we are currently in the process of opening our own gallery, where much of the new work will be shown and of course will be available to purchase.
